Lenina visits John at his lighthouse at the end of the novel, and he starts to whip her. After she strips in front of John, he tries to beat her. She continually tries to sleep with the Savage but becomes frustrated by his unwillingness. After visiting the Reservations, Lenina becomes popular by her association with the Savage. She dates Henry Foster in the beginning but agrees to go out with Bernard Marx to the Savage Reservations. Somehow, however, he has come to the conclusion that the benefits of annihalating these basic elements of human life exceed the drawbacks therof.Lenina is a beautiful woman who meets the group of students while inoculating the infants against yellow fever.
Therein lies his contradictory nature even though he considers history to be “bunk”, and insists that science must be limited in the interest of the public, he himself has read historical documents and conducted advanced research. Unlike the other members of this society, he has actually read these banned books and despite his view that “history is bunk”, he himself has read these books. He keeps a bible and a copy of “The complete works of William Shakespeare” in his office. This must be achieved at the expense of families, arts and diversity amongst other things. Mond, however, considers stability to be imperative in order to achieve human happiness. On one hand, John insists that individuals must be free to live as they like. In his discussion with John the Savage, two opposite views on society become clear. Mond represents the moral that the society in “Brave New World” is founded upon. This could be literature, scientific research or even people (e.g. He chose to assume the role as the leader of Western Europe and consequently sees to it that anything that could threaten the society he controls is disposed of.
He then had the choice to either go to one of the isolated “islands” and carry on with his research, or to move on to become a World Controller. Mond had earlier conducted advanced research, that was deemed as potentially harmful to the social stability.
